Using the same teaching technique that he uses in his 2-1/2 day super seminars, Ricky will bring you more quilting tips, techniques, secrets and methods than he can teach you in a whole day of a traditional sewing class in his exciting and information-packed 90 minute lecture/demonstrations. Ricky developed this unique style of teaching as a result of always having a waiting list for his sit and sew workshops and then having to stand around and watch his students sew for a good portion of the time, knowing in his heart that there was so much more he could teach and show them if he could develop a method of teaching that would reach more students in more ways. No more crowding around a sewing machine with 25 other students, peering over shoulders to see what the instructor is doing, no supply lists or sewing machines, and no more worrying about keeping up with the class. All you need is a pen and paper. Ricky lectures live and projects how-to demonstrations up on a large screen so that everyone can see from the comfort of their seats. Thousands of students have experienced his lecture/demos and have given Ricky rave reviews about this new teaching style. One skeptic said, "Wow! I learned so much and hands-on was not necessary." Come and see for yourself - we doubt you'll be disappointed!

Grand Finale - 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Join Ricky as he shares many of his secrets and methods for fine heirloom quality machine quilting. He'll demonstrate the techniques used in his award-winning quilts, Bohemian Rhapsody and Fire Dragon Rhapsody, in a way that leaves you amazed at how simple they are. His entertaining and informational program will give you the confidence you need to machine quilt like the pros. Even hand quilters will benefit from his instructions on quilt design, innovative marking techniques and improvisational and planned quilting.

Kool Kaleidoscope - 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
After making his first kaleidoscope quilt many years ago, Ricky decided there had to be an easier way to create this beautiful, difficult looking quilt. Using prepared strata from sparkling jewel-toned fabrics, he will show you the way to creating an individualistic kaleidoscope quilt. The exciting result will look complicated but the simple construction and dynamic visual impact will appeal to both confident beginners and advanced quilters.

Quilting is a relatively new interest compared to Ricky’s lifelong passion for music. He began formal music lessons at the age of three. He is a conductor, composer, arranger, music producer, and performing artist. Ricky is proud to have implemented and conducted the 1998 concert “When We no Longer Touch” featuring the St. Louis Voices united Chorus and members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Passage, the CD recording of this unique concert, was released in December 1998. He has also produced several solo piano recordings. His blend of music and quilting is unique and remarkable.

When the newly built Blue Gate Restaurant & Bakery opened it doors on August 4th, 2001 in Shipshewana, the entire town was invited over for dinner. As one of Indiana's largest restaurants, the Blue Gate comfortably seats 600 (more than the town's population). Built to reflect the surrounding community, the Blue Gate resembles a rambling white farmhouse, similar to those that dot the surrounding Amish countryside.
An award winning restaurant serving a world famous Family-style meal that features pressure fried chicken and 3 other meats, real mashed potatoes, Amish noodles, plus lots of other sides and 25 varieties of pies to choose from.
