Marianne Fons at Yoder Department Store!

Shipshewana Quilt Festival and Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine are proud to announce Marianne Fons as our featured speaker for 2009!

Marianne will be giving her lecture “Why we quilt” on Wednesday June 24th, 2009 at the Shipshewana Town Center. The $45 registration fee includes a plated lunch at 12:00 noon with the Lecture and trunk show beginning at 1:00 pm.

Following the lecture, Marianne Fons will be at our store to sign books and answer questions. This will be a great opportunity to get to know a nationally recognize speaker on quilting. You will also have the chance to have your picture taken with Marianne.

"Greetings From Amish Country"

We are proud to announce a great keepsake of your time in Shipshewana and LaGrange County! Lynette Jensen of Thimbleberries has designed a new print "Greetings from Amish Country" specifically for the Shipshewana Quilt Festival, available exclusively at Yoder Department Store.

This new print is themed with local history and landmarks in traditional colors. This wonderful fabric and its co-ordinates will be unveiled for the first time ever on June 25, 2009 at 9:00 am in Yoder Department Store. Come, experience and take part of your time in Shipshewana back into your home. What more could a quilter want than to have a piece of history?

In - Store Demos

In addition to all the festivities going on during the week of the Shipshewana Quilt Festival, Yoder Department Store will be hosting special events of its own. Designed to intrigue and excite the quilter, a variety of opportunities will be available. Chances to meet speakers, get autographs and photos, learn techniques, watch demonstrations, and get quilts appraised are some of the planned activities. Events happening in the store are complimentary to the public, with one exception: there will be a fee for quilt appraisals. If you would like to have your quilt appraised, please contact Nancy in the fabric department at (260) 768-4887. The staff at Yoder Department Store has made preparations to make this a one-of-a-kind week. Our quilting enthusiasts have great things planned. Please join us in celebrating the joy of quilting.
